@gtavjamal Only issue is getting the computers through. For example you ship me a computer valued at $1000. Canada imposes a 25% duty on it which means $250 and they then value the computer at $1,250. U.S. Customs now put a similar tariff (actually duty fees) of $312.50 and that puts the value of the computer at $1562.50. That's the power of compounding but of course not taking into account the currency exchange rates. Do that to the automobile industry and it means consumers will pay a shitload more money for their cars.

@Kraff Thanks, but I know how to display FPS. You're absolutely right, the FPS is capped at 120 FPS and with this setting set to off, I hit 163 tops in a low texture area on a 4080 GPU. Just shows you the amount of bullshit and disinformation you have on the web and particularly on Youtube.

However I think it's best we have a stable modding environment before we start introducing new variables. - contingent on SH5 and other mods that might need updating such as OpenIV.asi (the editor works, who knows if the .asi will work), heap and packfile limit adjusters, etc., Also, it's really debatable as what is the maximum FPS that the human eye can detect. I've watched action movies at 24 FPS that were decent but obviously that's way too low for gaming.

I haven't played with Enhanced yet even though it's installed, but apparently there is a much simpler method.

For Steam it's a launch option -maxFrameLimit. This can be set in properties, launch options.

I personally launch from a VB app i developed but this can be done from a simple Windows .bat file or .ps:

start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steam.exe" -dev -login userid password -applaunch 271590 -scOfflineOnly -maxFrameLimit 200

You can play with higher FPS rates, for example 250, but given many of our monitors synch at 60, turning synch (vsynch or other) and running very high FPS can lead to texture tearing, especially for crappy GPUs and crappy monitors.

@grook That's a good first step. Hopefully start with a smaller, lower poly, model - avoid Murphy's Law and have it crash on the first one.

@grook Modding issues are 100% cause and effect, never spontaneous although it often seems like that. Once you make a change to the vanilla game, for example adding a vehicle, there is a possibility the game will crash. As @KRYST4LCLR wrote, the larger/more complex vehicles are more likely to crash your game. So based on that advice, remove all the vehicles except one (just move or rename them, no need to edit dlclist.xml) and see if your game runs. Keeping adding until you have an issue. Hopefully start with a smaller filesize vehicle. And of course, your computer must meet R* min specs.

Once your modded game is stable, once you are more familiar with modding, you'll be able to install basically whatever you want, but the first step is to get stability. Also, start with the base version is this download.

@VenomKazie GTA V Enhanced should not have impacted GTA V Legacy. If your dll scripts are still working, then it means you have scripthook 5 and dinput8.dll working. I'm assuming your Trainer (asi) is still loading as well. Addon DLCs additionally require OpenIV.asi which is different from OpenIV's editor. Check that OpenIV.asi is still in your root folder. Obviously, if you made changes to your game at the same time as Enhanced came out, then it's likely a fluke. Check your dlclist.xml for errors and if possible remove the last mods you added to Legacy. In no way should Enhanced have impacted Legacy, it's a coincidence AFAIK.

@gtavjamal Sadly Elon and Company have put a 25% tariff on mod installation and troubleshooting, so I can no longer travel to the U.S.A unless i move to the states and build a factory there.

@minke101 If your legacy game works in vanilla that's a great start. I recommended the base version of this gameconfig.xml because it is a good starting point and it is recommended by the author, @F7YO.

The bad news is there's absolutely no guarantee it will keep your game from crashing because there are hundreds of variables: your hardware, your software, number of mods and scripts installed, complexity of mods and scripts installed, corrupt files, essential files not installed or not updated etc.
So without further remote troubleshooting, you might find this guide useful:

To use this mod, which is an html document, you need to double click the file called Start Here.html. If it doesn't open, or if it opens in notepad, right click the file and in the menu that appears (called a context menu) you will see an option called "Open With". This Option will allow you to select a browser: Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Edge, Safari, etc. This will open the toolkit. For those interested this happens when your Windows setup doesn't have a file association for the html or htm extension.
